9th Annual Walk for Warmth
Warm a Heart, Heat a Home
The 9th Annual Walk for Warmth sponsored by MCS Bank, Roy E. Berrier & Son, and Snedeker Energy in partnership with the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata and Mifflin-Juniata Human Services, was held on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at Kish Park. At this year's event, a total of 50 people endured the below freezing temperatures to help raise $6,000 for the Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank.
The event was held when temperatures were low so walkers could imagine what families who are struggling experience. All proceeds from the Walk for Warmth benefit the Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank in efforts of providing heat assistance to families who fail to qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) funding due to income ineligibility or those 60 or older.
Due to tremendous community
response, this year's proceeds from Walk for Warmth will also enable the Energy
Bank to be responsive to meeting the needs of our most vulnerable residents in
a new way! Often, individuals
are forced to make decisions about paying rent on time or paying heating
costs. Donations this year will allow Energy Bank recipients to access
funds to assist with either of these issues.
Thank you to all supporters!
